A young couple, Barbara and Adam Maitland (Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin) die when their car goes off a bridge, when they return home, something's different about their house. When they eventually realise they're dead, they freak out- obviously, wouldn't you? They then also learn that they can't leave their house now, so when a family move in the Maitlands try everything to get them out! With no luck, they ask for help from Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) a "bio-exorcist" from the underworld who tries to scare away the new inhabitants permanently.
This film is from the crazy and over the top mind of Tim Burton, it's a brilliant blend of comedy and the macabre. It's darkly humorous and visually inventive, a stunning movie that will outlive us all. Like the cockroach.
