Movie #58-60- The Millennium trilogy
Lets start by saying this is the original series which is in Swedish.
The Millennium trilogy consists of The Girl with the dragon tattoo, The Girl who played with fire and The Girl who kicked the hornets' nest. The Girl with the dragon tattoo is about a journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist)who is aided in his search for a woman who has been missing - or dead - for forty years by a young female hacker Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace)who, like Blomkvist has a dark past. The first film in this series is the hardest to watch out of the three, because of the horrible rape scene in it but this film is so fantastic its a must watch. Lisbeth is one of the best heroine's I have ever seen and Rapace is perfect as her.
The Girl who played with fire follows Lisbeth Salander as she returns to Sweden after spending a year abroad. She falls under suspicion of having committed the murder of a journalist and his girlfriend as well as her guardian, Nils Bjurman. Mikael Blomkvist has to do what he can to find her before the authorities do. This one is a little slower than the first but it goes into Lisbeth's past explaining why she is the way she is. Still another great film and another great performance by Rapace.
The Girl who kicked the hornets' nest picks up where The Girl Who Played with Fire left off. Lisbeth Salander is flown to Sahlgrenska Hospital after her encounter with her father. This film focuses on the trial of Lisbeth for various counts of aggravated violence and it, like the last film reveals more about lisbeths past. I can't say enough how good these films are and how much I think everyone should see them, parts are hard to watch, really hard but it's worth it, a fantastic series.
