Transported to Mars, Civil War vet John Carter (Taylor Kitsch) discovers a lush planet inhabited by 12-foot tall barbarians. Finding himself a prisoner of these creatures, he escapes, only to encounter a princess (Lynn Collins) who is in desperate need of a savior. The DVD cover says 'Star Wars for a new generation' well that's a massive lie, you should never compare the force to anything! John Carter is a 3 out of 5 star movie, Although Kitsch is great as John Carter the film itself is missing something that would make it worthy of being in the same category as Star Wars. Although the idea of this film certainly is an interesting one, with a power struggle on an alien world and an outsider affecting the balance, love and politics, time travel and mystical pathways between planets. Overall a good film mainly due to Taylor Kitsch but there is something missing, I just need someone to tell me what it is!
