Movie #87- Prometheus
Into the world of Ridley Scott and the same universe as Alien lies Prometheus which sees a team of scientists - led by archaeologists Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and Charlie Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green) - as they follow a star map discovered among the artifacts of several ancient Earth cultures. Seeking the origins of humanity, the crew arrive on a distant world and discover a threat that could cause the extinction of the human race.
I thought this movie was fantastic, the fault in Alien for me is the extremely slow build up, while this one doesn't exactly dive into the action straight away, its interesting as soon as the film begins, Prometheus explores its own mythology and ideas, making it separate to the Alien films and slightly better. With Rapace leading the cast, you can't go wrong especially with such a remarkable character like Elizabeth Shaw. Very few films can create a genuine sense of wonder and discovery, and Prometheus manages it for the entire 2 hours.
