Jonathan and Sara meet in a department store at christmas while trying to find a present for their partners, they end up spending the rest of the night together, talking, connecting and falling in love with each other. However they are both in relationships, which is where Sara's belief in fate comes in. Sara asks Jonathan to write his name and phone number on a $5 bill, while she writes her name and number on the inside cover of a book. If they are meant to be together, he will find the book and she will find the $5 bill, and they will find their way back to each other. Several years go by both in serious relationships and Jonathan preparing to get married but before he can he wants to try and find Sara one last time, at the same time Sara ends up in New York again ( after moving to San Francisco)looking for Jonathan.
What a beautiful movie! John Cusak is great and Kate Beckinsale is charming as always. Considering they hardly have any scenes together in this, they have great chemistry and the film captures fate wonderfully. Classic Rom-Com.
